- This online exhibit published by the U.S. Library of Congress is an excellent introduction to African American history, including colonization, abolition, migration, and the WPA. Each section includes an overview, graphics, and related links.

- Brush up on your African American history with this easy-to-use interactive quiz. Question difficulty varies. Includes several biographies of legendary African Americans.
- Black Facts Online
- Search this inexhaustible database for events and people of significance throughout the history of African American culture.
- Black History Month
- The author of this opinion piece from the Christian Science Monitor proposes incorporating the teaching African American culture into the overall school curriculum throughout the year instead of just during Black History Month.
- CORE
- Congress on Racial Equality (CORE) home page. CORE is one of the "Big Four' civil rights groups in the United States founded in 1942. Their main headquarters are located in New York City.

- Site offers information on health and vital population statistics and projections for African Americans. From the National Center for Health Statistics, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
- Great African-American Portrait Collection
- The National Portrait Gallery at the Smithsonian Institute maintains this online exhibition of the Harmond Foundation Collection of famous African Americans. Portraits include George Washington Carver, Paul Robeson, Thurgood Marshall and Ralph Bunche.
