This concise booklet presents fourteen practical guidelines that contribute to Clarity, Organization, Precision and Economy (COPE) in technical writing. These guidelines were derived from surveys of engineering faculty and employers of engineering graduates. Each guideline offers examples from actual engineering documents, along with advice on how to avoid some of the most common writing problems that plague engineers.
