Prerequisite: None.
Recommendation: Eligible for level 1 English placement, Sociology P101.
Total lecture 54 hours. A sociological analysis of the changing role of women in contemporary society, including a brief survey of the women’s movement and the stories of some of its earliest leaders. issues addressed include the social construction of gender, social inequality, women and social institutions, and women and feminism. Approved for credit/nocredit grading option. Not open to students with credit in Sociology 27. (A/CSU/UC)
